Pastor:  Dr. Tony Dye

Bro. Tony came to Bethany as pastor in June of 2006.  Before coming to Bethany, Tony completed his undergraduate studies at the Baptist College of Florida with a B.S. in Theology.  In addition to his undergraduate studies, Tony also pursued and completed the Masters and Doctoral programs at the Southern Baptist Center for Biblical Studies in Jacksonville, Florida.  Before coming to serve at Bethany, Tony served as pastor at Mt Olive Baptist Church and Westside Baptist Church, both in Elba, Alabama.  In his thirty-one years of ministry, Tony has also served at First Baptist Church, Cottonwood, Salem-Seminole Baptist Church in Donaldsonville, Georgia, Pathway Baptist Church, Dothan, Faith Baptist Church, Cowarts, Bethel Baptist Church, Dothan, and Calvary Baptist Church, Lower Heyford, U.K.

Tony's favorite pastimes are spending time with his family and fishing.  He and his wife, Shirlon  are the proud parents of Bethany, (son-in-law: Gunter), Benjamin (daughter-in-law: Amber), and the proud grandparents of Bailey Lynn and Ella Grace.

 

Minister of Music/Youth: Gunter Akridge

Gunter came to Bethany as Minister of Music and Youth in May of 2008.  He received his Bachelors degree in Music Education from Troy University, and is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity degree from Liberty University.  Prior to joining the ministry here at Bethany, Gunter served at Northern Heights Baptist Church in Opp Alabama, and Morningview Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.  Gunter's passion is for students to come to know and follow Jesus Christ.  Gunter is now in remission following a battle with cancer in 2007-2008.

Gunter and his wife, Bethany were married in April 2006 and their first child, Bailey Lynn was born in August 2009. 
 

Associate Pastor:  Milford Johnson

 

 

 

Secretary:  Paula McCollough
Paula has been our church secretary since September 1998.  Prior to becoming secretary at Bethany, Paula worked for 8 years at a local bank as a loan secretary.  She is married to Joey and they have two teenage sons, Brandon and Blake.  Paula loves serving the Lord at Bethany and feels that her position as secretary is a ministry.
